Fashion icon Kate Waterhouse has today been announced as the Australian Turf Club’s 2019 Autumn Racing Ambassador.
Hailing from Australian racing royalty, Kate is no stranger to the thoroughbred industry being the daughter of Hall of Fame trainer Gai Waterhouse, bookmaker Rob Waterhouse and granddaughter of legendary trainer Tommy “TJ” Smith.
The glamourous mother of two has created a successful career as a fashion and lifestyle journalist, media personality, television presenter and radio talent, while operating katewaterhouse.com.
The coveted role will see Kate feature throughout the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival starting with Chandon S Ladies Day on Saturday, Longines Golden Slipper Day (23 March); Stakes Day (30 March) and the prestigious The Championships at Royal Randwick, featuring Derby Day on April 6 and Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day on April 13.
Kate Waterhouse said: “I’m thrilled to be working with the Australian Turf Club as their Autumn Racing Ambassador. I’ve grown up on the racetrack and have many special memories at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick so I’m excited to promote something I’m passionate about.
Kate will also feature as a Harrolds Fashion Chute judge on April 6, and join the Seven Horse Racing team as colour reporter.
“Racing and fashion go hand in hand and this year’s Autumn Racing trends will see shades of blue, burgundy, and pink as well as strong neutrals, while voluminous, feminine dresses and structured suiting with waist belts and cinched in blazers should shine.

The Longines Golden Slipper Carnival starts this weekend which sees six elite weeks of Group 1 racing, fashion, and fun and in Sydney.
