World Pool Continues Record Growth Across Sydney Autumn Racing
26 February, 2026
Saturday’s TAB Verry Elleegant Stakes Day at Royal Randwick will see the Australian Turf Club again partner with World Pool, the first of several racedays in coming weeks heading through the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Races 7 to 10 on Saturday – including the Group 1 $1 million TAB Verry Elleegant Stakes and Group 1 $750,000 The Chase Surround Stakes – will offer punters increased tote pools via co-mingling with the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
World Pool will also operate in Sydney at next week’s The Agency Randwick Guineas Day, on all ten races on TAB Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens on 21 March, and the following Saturday, Family Stakes Day at Rosehill Gardens.
Both days of The Championships at Royal Randwick in April will be backed by World Pool, with the final day of the Sydney Autumn Carnival – Schweppes All Aged Stakes Day – also likely to be included.
Across the seven racedays, a record total of 44 World Pool races will be run in Sydney.
Sydney has hosted the three highest turnover records of World Pool racedays since the initiative was launched in 2019 – TAB Everest Day in 2025, The Championships Day 1 in 2025, and TAB Everest Day in 2024.
Australian Turf Club Interim CEO Steve McMahon said the ATC’s partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club and World Pool was one of the strongest in international racing.
“The Australian Turf Club is delighted to again link with the Hong Kong Jockey Club to increase tote pools for punters and to feature our world-class racing across the globe,’’ Mr McMahon said.
“We are particularly excited that TAB Golden Slipper Day, Australia’s biggest day of Group 1 racing, will for the first time be a part of World Pool, with all ten races covered.
“Australian Turf Club Group 1 races have consistently featured in the world’s top 100 races, with many of those run in the Sydney Autumn.
“To have up to 44 races covered over the coming months through Autumn is a huge endorsement of the overall quality of Sydney racing.
“The ATC looks forward to continuing to grow World Pool with the Hong Kong Jockey Club and setting new wagering records in Sydney at Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens.’’
World Pool operates across 27 international jurisdictions on major racedays throughout the year and up to 390 races are expected to be covered in 2026.
