The Australian Turf Club is hosting a commemorative luncheon to celebrate the stellar racing career of Winx – Australia’s greatest racehorse – at Royal Randwick on Saturday 22 August.
The inaugural luncheon will be held on Winx Stakes Day – a race which has gained Group 1 status and was won by the mighty mare herself on three successive occasions.
Set in the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Grandstand, the Ballroom will provide the glamorous setting for guest speakers, including two of Winx’s part-owners, Debbie Kepitis and Peter Tighe.
Debbie and Peter are looking forward to regaling guests at the luncheon with intimate stories of Winx, the winner of 25 Group 1 races and Australian racing’s greatest ever prizemoney earner.
“It is wonderful that Winx is still so loved and talked about now that she is a broodmare,” Debbie said.
“All of the three part-owners are very excited now about the prospect of Winx having a foal in the next few months.
“The lunch is a chance to commemorate Winx and at the same time say a thank you to her for all of the memories she gave us and racing fans.
“We will also get the chance to raise money for charity through the ATC Foundation, which is something we all like to do through Winx.”
Guests will enjoy a three-course plated lunch and beverage package. Charity donation collections and auctions will raise funds going towards the ATC Foundation.
A top-class race card is headlined by the first Group 1 of the season, the Group 1 $500,000 Winx Stakes – a race Winx won in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
