The Australian Turf Club has altered the race times and order for the Monday 13 February rescheduled The Star Apollo Stakes Day meeting, to allow as many fans as possible to see Sydney’s mighty mare Winx race.

Entry to the meeting will be free, with the first race at 1.20pm and the final event, Race 10 at 6.50pm.

The Star Apollo Stakes will now be race 8 on the program – starting at 5.40pm – to allow more on course patrons as well TV audiences  to see Winx take on a quality field in her bid for a 14th consecutive victory.

The later start will also offer all racing enthusiasts the opportunity to get to Royal Randwick after daily commitments.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Officer Darren Pearce said the extreme weather forecast had forced the Monday option.

“We want to ensure as many people as possible get the chance to see Winx live on track or on TV after work by pushing the times back,’’ Mr Pearce said.

“I want to thank all of the Sydney fans as well as trainers and participants for understanding the need to move for the safety and well-being of all horses and participants.

“The weather forecast with the high temperatures and humidity created a no win situation for the meeting to proceed as originally programmed.’’

All guests will be admitted free of charge on Monday and all Members that have purchased guest tickets for tomorrow will be refunded in full.

Dedicated areas will be established to allow trainers and owners to view the Inglis Classic sale on Monday and to bid by phone.
