ROSEHILL GARDENS SOARS FOR GOLDEN EAGLE DAY
2 November, 2024
The 2024 Sydney Everest Carnival soared on Golden Eagle Day on Saturday 2 November at Rosehill Gardens. This incredible day of racing was headlined by Sydney’s second-richest race on turf, the $10 million James Squire Golden Eagle, another pinnacle event of Spring.
Western Sydney’s biggest raceday party had racegoers wearing a “touch of gold” to get into the spirit at Rosehill Gardens on this feature day which was attended by the likes of Erin Holland (who sung the national anthem), James Tedesco, Sally Bowrey and Grace Hayden.

The $10 million James Squire Golden Eagle was filled with high drama as UK galloper Lake Forest flashed along the inside to claim victory for trainer Williams Haggas and jockey Cieren Fallon then surviving a protest from runner-up in French raider Lazzat. $1 million of the prizemoney goes to charity with the Ricky Stuart Foundation receiving $525,000 through Lake’s Forest’s victory.
The $3 million Russel Balding Stakes was won impressively by 2024 TAB Everest champion Bella Nipotina for Ciaron Maher with Craig Williams in the saddle.
The Golden Grounds, which was free for all racegoers, offered front row views of live racing and an electric atmosphere underscored by roving entertainment, live music, and complimentary gelato.
The ‘After The Last’ series concluded the day, with an exclusive set by DJ Alex K, including his top hit “6 Days on the Run”.
Public transport was included with the cost of all ticket purchases as part of the exceptional value for money day out.
The 2024 Sydney Everest Carnival heads back to Royal Randwick on Tuesday for The Big Dance on Cup Day before returning for the final day at Rosehill Gardens on 11 November for Five Diamonds Ladies Day.
