Wendy Roche

Warwick Farm

Wendy was an accomplished rider and horsewoman from when she was a child growing up in Murwillumbah NSW. She was a highly competitive and fearless show jumping rider, show rider, eventer, and reached state levels in hockey, touch football and athletics. Wendy started riding racehorses and trackwork as a schoolgirl, after riding her pushbike 10km to the track. She has the observational skills of an owl, the work ethic of a beaver, and horsemanship skills equal to any. Wendy has an empathy and an understanding of all her horses and has the innate ability to sense when a horse is thriving, and the observation skills to sense the moment that the horse is “not quite right” or showing early signs of soreness. Wendy has had a lot of her success with tried horses from other trainers, many difficult to manage leg, foot and temperament problems. In 2015, Wendy and her veterinarian partner John Crowley bought an unwanted yearling for $20,000. They could see that underneath her gangling frame, she had the coordination and athleticism to be a very good racehorse when she finally matured. Wendy broke her in and immediately felt that she was a star in the making so they decided to keep her, allow her to mature and put up with her idiosyncrasies. Their patience and belief in Nettoyer has certainly paid off.
