Randwick – 29 boxes, 1 treadmill, 1 walker & pool access
In the late 1980’s, Michael Freedman joined his three older brothers, Lee, Anthony and Richard in one of Australia’s most prominent training partnerships. During their 20-year tenure, the Melbourne based Freedman stable prepared over 100 Group 1 winners, including five Melbourne Cup winners and four consecutive Golden Slipper winners.
In 2008, Michael branched out to train in his own right when he was granted a licence to train in Singapore. Over eight seasons, Michael trained the winners of 468 races, with the best of those being Singapore Triple Crown Winner and Horse of The Year, Super Easy.
With a decade of experience in Asia including a brief stint in Hong Kong, Michael is now firmly based in Sydney, Australia. Since calling Randwick home, Michael has trained no less than five Golden Slipper runners, including a dominant victory with Stay Inside in 2021 and runner-up with Frolic in 2017. Well-regarded as a premier trainer of juveniles, earned by his association with Stay Inside, Queen Of The Ball, Glistening and Tiger Of Malay, Michael has demonstrated versality with older horses including the likes of multiple Group 1 winning Forbidden Love.
It is fair to say Michael outperforms his boutique stable size – with just 29 boxes at his Randwick base, Michael has trained the winners of four Group 1’s, a Champion 2-year-old, five 2-year-old Stakes winners and established the careers of two future stallions.
