As the son of legendary Australian jockey George Moore, Gary had the ultimate mentor to develop the skills required to take him to the top, both as a jockey and later as a trainer. Gary learnt from his father and from the gifted horsemen he was associated with, first in his native Australia, and then on the world stage in places such as France, England and Hong Kong. Gary was successful as a rider against the best, including Lester Piggott and Yves Saint Martin. He remains the only living Australian to win the Prix de l’Arc De Triomphe in 1981 aboard Gold River. Other highlights include winning the Prix du Jockey Club, Prix de Diane and being champion rider in Hong Kong on 7 occasions. Since swapping his saddle and whip for a stopwatch, he has trained over 1000 winners worldwide and was crowned Champion Trainer in Macau on 8 occasions. Following a successful stint overseas, Gary returned to Australia to set up his new base at Rosehill. Gary’s career highlights include training winners in Hong Kong and Dubai.
