BACKGROUND and NOTABLE WINS
Anthony Cummings is a third generation Group 1 winning trainer whose family is steeped in success and tradition. The son of legendary “Cup’s king” Bart Cummings, Anthony began training in his own right in 1991. He did not have long to wait to achieve success at the highest level, when Final Card won the Gadsden Rheem Stakes, (breaking a 40 year course record), over the Flemington Carnival, less than three months into his solo training career.
Anthony continued this early success, and his next Group 1 winner was On Air who was successful in the ATC Australian Oaks. From there, a stream of top-class horses have reached their ultimate potential under the guidance of Anthony. Horses like Hotel Grand, Casino Prince, Duporth, Turffontein, Road To Rock, Zavite and more recently Group 1 winning two year old Prince Fawaz (Fastnet Rock), Everest runner and three time Group 2 winner Libertini (I Am Invincible), multiple Group 2 winner and Group 1 placegetter Mizzy (Zoustar). Anthony has built a reputation as a master conditioner of horses to allow them the time to reach their full capability.
Anthony’s success as a judge of yearlings is unrivalled in Australia! Might And Power, Wrap Around, Defier, Road To Rock, Turffontein, Casino Prince, Fiveandahalfstar, Prince Fawaz, Mizzy are just a few on the list that have been selected as youngsters by Anthony. And that list is certain to grow, with a further 60 yearlings bought over the past two sales seasons, the tradition and success continues!
