The Essential Guide To Sydney Surf To Turf Day 2025

The first day of the Sydney Everest Carnival, Sydney Surf To Turf Day kicks off in spectacular style on Saturday 20 September with a vibrant celebration of bold fashion, premium food and beverage, entertainment and world-class Spring racing at Royal Randwick.  

Whether you’re a seasoned punter or a first-time racegoer, here’s what you can expect!

1. Top-Flight Group 1 Racing

The stars will be out chasing Group 1 glory in the $1 million 7 Stakes over 1600m, at 4.00pm. Champion mare Fangirl will be out to win back-to-back editions of the race for trainer Chris Waller.  

Top sprinters and TAB Everest contenders such as Private Harry, Briasa and Joliestar will line-up in the Group 2 Yarraman Park Shorts at 4:40pm.

2. After The Last: Catch Hot Dub Time Machine Live

The action doesn’t stop at the last race, with Hot Dub Time Machine taking to the stage in the Theatre of the Horse for a high-energy set open to all racegoers.

Expect a dancefloor journey through the decades, from ’60s classics to today’s biggest hits.

3. Peacock Lounge Presented by Balter

Peacock Lounge presented by Balter returns to the Winx Stand, offering an elevated raceday experience like no other. 

Indulge in a curated menu of crowd favourites while enjoying refreshing beers and bubbles from the vibrant Balter Bar. 

With DJs and live entertainment setting the tone all day, the Peacock Lounge is the place to be, right by the trackside lawn at Royal Randwick. 

Don’t miss celebrity chef George Mirosevich’s signature Balter Beer-Battered Lobster Roll, served exclusively in the Peacock Lounge. 

While you’re there, make sure you have a go at The Wizard’s Derby of Darts, a one-of-a-kind competition giving you the chance to qualify to take on champion darts player Simon ‘The Wizard’ Whitlock.

4. Step Into the Spotlight with Fashion Stakes

Fashion Stakes returns, bringing with it glamour, bold fashion and a prize pool valued at over $25k. 

Open to all racegoers, we’re rolling out the runway to find one Best Dressed and Best Suited racegoer who truly embodies the spirit of Spring racing fashion. Whether you favour timeless elegance or bold expression, this is your moment to step out and shine.  

This week’s competition will be judged by one of Australia’s most in-demand fashion stylists, Paul Versace, widely known as Styled by Bloom.  

Finalists will receive complimentary tickets to the Grand Finale, held on Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day, Saturday 25 October.

5. Pamper Pavilion
