The Essential Guide To Golden Rose Day 2025

The Sydney Everest Carnival heads to Sydney’s West with Yulong Golden Rose Day at Rosehill Gardens.

With Group 1 racing, AFL Grand Final viewing area, Fashion Stakes and a great selection of food and drink, this Saturday promises to be one of the most exciting days of the Sydney Everest Carnival at Rosehill Gardens.

Whether you’re trackside for the racing or soaking up the atmosphere with friends, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your day.

1. Group 1 Racing Takes Centre Stage

The headline event, the $1 million Group 1 Yulong Golden Rose, jumps at 4:05pm, showcasing the best of the three-year-old crop.

Godolphin’s star filly Tempted will take on Chris Waller’s promising duo Beiwacht and Wodeton, while the Hawkes-trained colt Nepotism adds further intrigue to a stacked field.

Earlier in the day, the Group 2 Racing and Sports Golden Pendant at 3:25pm brings together top-class fillies and mares, while the Group 2 Canadian Club Shannon Stakes at 4:45pm features standout runners including Gringotts, Osipenko and Fawkner Park.

Adding to the excitement, keep your eyes on the track at 12:10pm for a special exhibition gallop by Autumn Glow, Chris Waller’s undefeated four-year-old mare and current TAB Epsom Handicap favourite. She’ll stretch out over 1000m between Races 1 and 2, with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.

2. Watch the AFL Grand Final Live

While the track hosts Group racing action, the AFL Grand Final between the Geelong Cats and reigning premiers Brisbane Lions will be screened live in a dedicated viewing zone close to the racing action.

Located in the J.R. Fleming Grandstand, the AFL area offers a lively atmosphere with the game on the big screen,  plenty of seating and even a chance to challenge your mates to a game of pool or table tennis.

3. Step Into the Spotlight with Fashion Stakes

Fashion Stakes returns, bringing with it glamour, bold fashion and a prize pool valued at over $25k.

Open to all racegoers, we’re rolling out the runway to find one Best Dressed and Best Suited racegoer who truly embodies the spirit of Spring racing fashion. Whether you favour timeless elegance or bold expression, this is your moment to step out and shine.

This week’s competition will be judged by renowned Australian milliner Chantelle Ford, of Ford Millinery.

Finalists will receive complimentary tickets to the Grand Finale, held on  Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day, Saturday 25 October.
