The 13 Unmissable Highlights on TAB Everest Day

TAB Everest Day in 2023 promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The 2023 TAB Everest is the seventh running of the world’s richest race on turf with Royal Randwick set to play host to another spectacular raceday.

Gates open 10.30am with the first race at 12.30pm and at race at 6.10pm. Full fields.

Here are 13 unmissable highlights to catch when trackside on Saturday, 14 October:

  • A BATTLE OF SPEED – The TAB Everest 4:15pm

The $20million TAB Everest has brought together 12 of the best sprinters in the land. The seventh running of this popular race is sure to produce spectacular fireworks. Warwick Farm-trained gallopers make up four of the 12 runners with trainer Joe Pride boasting two representatives, including the favourite Think About It (with Private Eye being the other). Bjorn Baker has Overpass, which races in the ATC/RAM Racing slot and Buenos Noches represents the Matthew Smith barn. In fact, nine of the 12 runners are prepared at ATC tracks with I Wish I Win (Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman) and the Godolphin pair of Cylinder and In Secret (James Cummings, Agnes Banks) being the exceptions.   • LOOK ON THE BRIGHTSIDE – 5:35pm

Serial winner Mr Brightside ($2.25 TAB) will be looking to capture his third Group 1 feature at Royal Randwick when he starts a hot favourite in the $5million King Charles III Stakes. The Victorian galloper already has two Doncaster Miles to his name which he has captured in his only two runs on the track.

  • FASHION STAKES – entries close at 2pm

Patrons will have the chance to win over $15,000 in cash and prizes thanks to the Fashion Stakes competition. To enter, racegoers simply head to the Pamper Pavilion or scan the QR code located throughout the course. The two best dressed will be judged by Kate Waterhouse, Elliot Garnaut and Damien Woolnough-Reid. Professional photography will be captured on the Octagonal Lawn.

  • EVEREST COCKTAIL AT KOMBI KEG

Purchase your $10 cocktail in your own branded Everest Cup from one of four Kombi Keg’s located around the course. After your purchase scan the QR code to vote for the cocktail that should be named the ‘Official Everest Drink’ which will be carried on for years to come! Cocktails include Pink Gin Spritz, Mojito, Margarita and Blue Lagoon.

  • EATS IN THE GARDEN (located behind the Theatre of the Horse)

Explore the vast array of food trucks serving up delights from afar as Italy, South America and the Middle East. There’s Caminito, Gozleme, Happy As Larry, Chicken Theatre, Nachos and Cheeky Chips.

  • THE WINX STAND

Admission is free to the world-class WINX Stand where there is plenty of entertainment to make your TAB Everest Day even more memorable. From floral photo moments to the TAB Lobby, DJs will be performing music sets throughout the afternoon while you can enjoy a beverage from cocktail bar and enjoy sweeping views of the Royal Randwick track from either the Ground Floor or First Level.

  • PAMPER PAVILION (located behind the Queen Elizabeth II Stand)

Indulge yourself at the Pamper Pavilion at Royal Randwick. The ultimate fashion and beauty destination to ensure you feel your best all day long. Featuring fashion illustrators Stephanie Baynie and Alexandra Nea, complimentary Chandon on arrival and touch-ups / replenishments readily available upon request.

  • TROPHY PHOTO MOMENTS (located behind the Queen Elizabeth II Stand)

Get your picture taken with the two major prizes that trainers, jockeys, horses and owners will be fighting for on the turf – the TAB Everest and King Charles III trophies. These two stunning trophies will be available to capture photos with from 10am till 3pm.

  • AFTER THE LAST – 6:20pm

An exclusive DJ Set of Empire of the Sun will be performed as part of the popular ‘After The Last’ concert series. Located in the Theatre of the Horse and to be run 10 mins after the final race on the card. This Sydney Everest Carnival has already seen brilliant performances by Hot Dub Time Machine and DJ Havana Brown!

  • ENDLESS FOOD AND DRINK OPTIONS

Members have a number of different bars and food outlets to satisfy their thirst or hunger on TAB Everest Day. Among them are the ATC Smokehouse (burgers and brisket), Petaluma Wine Bar, Casa Aperol @ Royal Randwick (featuring DJ Mark Matthews), Mr Black Airstream (serving up Espresso Martinis) while you can head to The Parlour for free gelato! General admission patrons can head to Destination Chandon, the Canadian Club Bar, Grainshaker Vodka Bar, James Squire House and check out the number of food trucks located throughout the course (Greek Street – Trackside Lawn AND Hot Dogs – behind the QEII Stand) and in Eats Of The Garden. What to eat and drink. 

  • MEET TWO-TIME TAB EVEREST CHAMP, REDZEL (Raceday horse stalls, opposite WINX Stand)

Two-time TAB Everest winner Redzel trained by Peter and Paul Snowden will lead out the 2023 field in the $20 million race. Head to the raceday stall number 13 from 2pm to meet him and have your photo taken up until 4pm.

  • PUNTERS PODIUM (Kensington Room)

Grab your ticket to the punters podium as the team from Racing & Sports invest your money between races 5-9. $10 per share which are available from all TAB operators before 2.30pm.

  • CARNIVAL KARAOKE (Sweet Caroline at 4:12pm)

Fans will get the chance to sing-along to the Neil Diamond classic just before the TAB Everest. Watch last year as over 46,000 fans belted out Sweet Caroline.
