Coolmore’s TAB Everest contender Ten Sovereigns arrived safely at Canterbury Park International Horse Centre on Sunday alongside travelling companion National Guard.

From the stable of one of international racing’s most successful trainers Aidan O’Brien (Ireland), Ten Sovereigns is a winner of four of his seven starts including a convincing victory in the Group 1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

Both horses had their first look at the Canterbury Park course proper this morning with some light exercise on the polytrack.

“Ten Sovereigns has arrived in great shape having lost very little weight on the journey from Ireland,” said James Ross, Australian Turf Club General Manager Racing, Wagering and International.

“It is exciting to see a horse of this calibre compete in the TAB Everest with an international rating of 122, making him the highest rated sprinter from Europe to travel to Australia to race.

“Racing NSW and ATC are very keen to attract the best sprinters in the world to compete in the TAB Everest, and are committed to further developing the international participation in Sydney Racing.

“We are now seeing the world’s best horses complement the world-class facilities on hand at the Canterbury Park International Horse Centre.”
