TAB Rosebud Sprouts Some Early Shoots To A Blooming Sydney Spring

The Listed $200,000 TAB Rosebud at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday continues a lead-up to a range of Spring features with the return of a host of top three-year-olds on pathways to a coveted Group 1.

A capacity field of 16 runners along with three emergencies have accepted in the TAB Rosebud as more than a dozen stables look to progress horses towards the Group 1 $1 million Yulong Golden Rose at Rosehill Gardens on 26 September.

The TAB Rosebud comes ahead of other three-year-old targets in coming weeks at Rosehill Gardens – the Group 3 $250,000 San Domenico Stakes and Group 3 $250,000 Up and Coming Stakes (29 August) – and Group 2 $300,000 Run To The Rose (12 September).

Further horse power will be on show on Saturday with a series of exhibition gallops by many of Sydney racing’s Group 1 superstars, including Autumn Glow, Autumn Boy and Beiwacht (FURTHER DETAILS BELOW).

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Officer Steve McMahon said Saturday’s meeting was another reminder of a looming blockbuster Sydney Everest Carnival.

“Again this week on track we see the return of some of the best horses in training as we head into several months of Group racing at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick,’’ Mr McMahon said.

“As an added bonus for those on course on Saturday, we get to see up close and in action stars such as Autumn Glow and several others as they continue their campaigns into Spring.

“You have to be here for it – nothing beats the thrill and experience of being trackside at these feature race meetings.

“Punters need to be locking in their tickets well in advance as we see TAB Everest Day hurtling towards a sell-out and other days heavily booked across September and October.’’

The Bjorn Baker trained Blue Door ($4 TAB) with jockey Rachel King is early favourite in a highly-competitive TAB Rosebud, just ahead of Central Europe ($4.20 TAB) for the champion Chris Waller and James McDonald combination.

Two other gallopers are under double-figure odds – Chilly Girl at $5 TAB (Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou/Tim Clark) and Castillo King at $6 TAB (Michael Freedman/Tommy Berry).
