11 UNMISSABLE HIGHLIGHTS ON TAB EVEREST DAY

It’s Sydney’s time to shine at Royal Randwick on Saturday for TAB Everest Day as global attention turns to the world’s richest race, the $15m TAB Everest.

Here are 11 things you don’t want to miss when you’re at trackside. Gates open at 10am for members and 10.30am for all other guests with race 1 at 12.30pm.

1. Put your best foot forward at the Spring Fashion Stakes – 7am to 2pm

Step up and step out in your raceday best and enter the Spring Fashion Stakes in with a chance to win a share of $30,000 in cash and prizes. Simply snap a portrait photo of your raceday outfit that showcases your look. Upload your photo via the entry form which is open 7am – 2pm on raceday. Keep an eye on our social channels, or the big screen if you’re on course for the ‘Winners’ announcement. We have three categories featuring ‘Best Dressed Female’, ‘Best Dressed Male, and the new ‘Show Stopper’ category.

Our resident make-up guru and Sydney’s go-to hair and makeup guru, Michael Brown shares his three top tips to have you looking your best this Sydney Everest Carnival, while ATC’s stylist-in-chief Donny Gallela shares his top five trackside styling tips.

2. Grab a TAB Everest Trophy opportunity 

Have your photo snapped with the TAB Everest trophy outside the Queen Elizabeth II Grandstand near the Theatre of The Horse. This iconic masterpiece has been designed by Nic Cerrone and his team who partnered with Racing NSW to create this beautiful trophy worth $600k! The base has been crafted to replicate the actual Everest mountain, while the race horse comprises of approx. 550ct of black diamonds, 32 ct of white diamonds and two rubies for eyes. The $15 million TAB Everest, the world’s richest race on turf, is run at Royal Randwick on 15 October.

3. Get involved in the Punters Podium

The ATC Punters Podium is back! Operating across four key dates in the Sydney Everest Carnival, TAB Everest Day through to The Big Dance on Cup Day, the team from Racing and Sports will again partner with the ATC to ensure everyone on course has a chance of a collect… or many!

Beginning on TAB Everest Day, Saturday 15th October, tipsters from R&S will be situated in the refurbished Punters Lounge at Royal Randwick, level 1 of the Winx Stand and ground floor of the JR Fleming Stand at Rosehill. From these locations they’ll give previews of the day, tips for the main races and of course updates of all their key bets and results. Fingers crossed for nothing but happy news! They’ve also got some great merchandise to give away to lucky punters, so be sure to check them out in person.

If you’re unable to do that, never fear, all updates for the ATC Punters Podium will be available online via this page and also through social media channels. Just follow @aus_turf_club on twitter to keep abreast of all that’s going on.

So how do you get involved? Simple! Shares for the Punters Podium will be available from ALL TAB ONCOURSE OPERATORS up until around 15 mins before Race 5 each day. For as little as $10 per ticket you can take a stake in a pool that these professionals expertly wager across races 5-9 each day, including all the major races. Buy as many as you like to increase your excitement!

4. Purchase a TAB Everest pin for a good cause

 5. Glam up at the Glam House

Step inside The Glam House, a precinct to ensure you look your best all day long! With hair and make up artists on hand for quick touch ups, a perfume parlour for a refresh, fashion illustrators ready to sketch your raceday look and race day essentials. 6. Spectate the world’s richest race on turf – $15 million TAB Everest 

The TAB Everest features 12 of the best sprinters in the world competing for a slice of the $15 million prizemoney.

Defending champion Nature Strip trained by Chris Waller and ridden by James McDonald is the horse to beat. There is no shortage of challengers headed by the John O’Shea Lost And Running who finished fourth in the race last year.

7. Watch the best country sprinters hit the big smoke for the Kosciuszko 

The Kosciuszko (1200m) brings the best country sprinters in NSW to the metropolis to compete for a slice of the $2 million prizemoney. Art Cadeau is aiming to back-up last year’s impressive win by going back-to-back in a quality field.

 8. Check out the world-class WINX Stand

The impressive WINX Stand named after the legendary mare is open to all racegoers to enjoy. Club Cuba takes over the WINX Stand on Everest Day with a spirit of mid 20th century Havana. Open to all racegoers, be transported to 1950s Havana. Latin drummers and salsa dancers will ensure an authentic Cuban flair while world-class DJ Hayley Teal Sounds System brings the party to a crescendo.

Club Cuba Bar will serve fresh margaritas and mojitos while the Coco Cubano restaurant will serve delicious tapas, tacos and burritos.

A vintage Chevrolet, an icon of Castro’s Cuba, will provide the perfect photo moment (look out for the special WINX number plate).

Upstairs in The Gallery North Room will feature a sports bar with bespoke food offering and betting activation. While The Gallery South has DJs with cocktails and tapas. The open terrace is also home to the Happy Clapper Bar which has one of the best views on track. Watch here.

9. Visit the Lyre’s Spirit Co Cocktail Bar

Wanting to keep it classy for this year’s Sydney Everest Carnival? Stop by the Lyre’s Spirit Co Cocktail Bar located at Winx Terrace Bar for a range of delicious cocktails. Lyre’s are serving a range of cocktails that are true to taste, so you don’t have to compromise on taste and flavour… and the best part is you can have as many as you like!

10. Indulge in raceday fare

We’ve enhanced numerous food & beverage outlets leading into Spring. Members can head to the Carbine Café to find boutique finger sandwiches including the iconic crab, house-made signature desserts and fine coffee. The Epsom Cheese and Wine Bar by Petaluma provides shared platters and artisan cheese and salumi from predominantly New South Wales producers. The Doncaster Room will be the home of a new tapas style menu with online ordering facility. The adjacent Kensington Room will offer a twist on the much-loved pie and mash combination. Oaks Café will serve market fresh seafood cooked to order including the popular Furphy beer battered fish and fat chips. On the members’ lawn a new American-style smokehouse will serve slow-cooked beef brisket and signature burgers. Also check out the divine handmade Espresso Martini from the iconic Mr Black Airstream Van, or Lobster & Co’s iconic Lobster Roll served with a glass of Champagne and Truffle Parmesan Fries.

11. Dance to the beats of Peking Duk – 6.20pm

Dance duo Peking Duk will perform at the free and exclusive After The Last concert for all racegoers. Previous years music acts include Jason Derulo, One Direction’s Liam Payne and Kelly Rowland who have performed in recent years at The TAB Everest.
