Nash Stars On Sydney Surf To Turf Day
Rawiller wins both $1million features with Think It Over and Private Eye
September 16, 2023
The Sydney Everest Carnival kicked off with a bang at Royal Randwick on Saturday afternoon.
A magnificent Sydney Surf To Turf Day was highlighted by the win of Private Eye in the $1million Toyota Forklifts Shorts, propelling it into the conversation for a slot in the $20million TAB Everest in a month’s time.
Prepared by Joe Pride, Private Eye overcame a wide passage to overhaul the frontrunner Overpass (Bjorn Baker) with Buenos Noches (Matthew Smith) completing a trifecta for Warwick Farm trainers.
Racegoers partied on thanks to the ‘After The Last’ concert series in the Theatre of the Horse, with Hot Dub Time Machine putting on quite the show.
Other highlights from the day included:
*The inaugural running of the $1million 7 Stakes taken out by Think It Over in a thriller over Zaaki, with Kerry Parker’s stable star now eyeing off the $5million King Charles III Stakes on TAB Everest Day
*Just Fine went into outright favourite for the James Squire Metropolitan in a fortnight after a dominant win for Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott and Regan Bayless in the James Squire Kingston Town Stakes
*Tiz Invincible made it two of three legs in the Darley Princess Series with victory in the $300,000 Darley Tea Rose Stakes
*Derry Grove threw his hat into the ring as a Kosciuszko contender after a strong win in race two – the TAB Highway Handicap
*Nash Rawiller taking riding honours with a treble including the two $1million races (7 Stakes & Toyota Forklifts Shorts)
Attention now turns to the second day of the Sydney Everest Carnival on Saturday, 23 September with KIA Golden Rose Day at Rosehill Gardens.
