Sydney Surf to Turf Day Debuts an Exciting Vision of What to Expect at the 2024 Sydney Everest Carnival

The 2024 Sydney Everest Carnival kicked off today with Sydney Surf to Turf Day at Royal Randwick, recording a 30% year-on-year increase in General Admission attendance for the first day of Spring Racing in Sydney.

A day of thrilling racing, premium dining, and live entertainment, including the debut of the Peacock Lounge in the Winx Stand, showcased the carnival’s value-driven experiences. The event drew a younger, diverse crowd, with 56% of General Admission attendees aged 18-34 and 60% of tickets purchased by women.

“We’re thrilled with the strong start and continued growth, especially in the current economic climate,” said Matt Galanos, CEO of the Australian Turf Club. “These numbers reflect our focus on delivering value and memorable experiences, particularly for younger audiences.”

The Peacock Lounge, included with all General Admission tickets, offered Yum Cha-inspired food and a James Squire Bar, alongside live DJ sets throughout the day. The After the Last concert series featured a high-energy performance by Teddy Cream at the Theatre of the Horse.

The Sydney Everest Carnival runs for nine weeks, offering 29 Group and Listed races across Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens, with $87 million in prizemoney, including the $20 million TAB Everest, the world’s richest race on turf.

The Sydney Everest Carnival continues until 11 November 2024, solidifying its place as Australia’s leading Spring racing event and a pinnacle event in Sydney’s social calendar.
