SYDNEY AUTUMN RACING CARNIVAL TURNS PINK ON CHANDON LADIES’ DAY, SUPPORTING THE MCGRATH FOUNDATION

ATC celebrates the return of the flagship hospitality and fashion event

February 22, 2023

To mark the start of a spectacular six-week Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, The Australian Turf Club (ATC) will celebrate the return of the highly anticipated flagship fashion and hospitality event, the Pink Fashion Lunch on Chandon Ladies’ Day at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 11 March.

The best of Sydney’s fashion and social scene will come together in the Grand Pavilion for the Pink Fashion Lunch with all racegoers encouraged to dress in pink. The ATC Foundation will proudly raise funds for the McGrath Foundation for the fourth year running, on the opening day of the Autumn Racing Carnival at Rosehill Gardens. The McGrath Foundation funds McGrath Breast Care Nurses, who provide invaluable support and care to women and men experiencing breast cancer across Australia, from diagnosis right throughout treatment and beyond.

Guests will indulge in a delicious three-course meal and beverages including Chandon Rose, curated by Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival Culinary Ambassador and Executive Chef of Flying Fish at The Star, Adam Hall and ATC’s Executive Group Chef, Gerry Maher. Their strong connection to the land and sea will inform their menu, with dishes including pacific black duck, spanner crab, Flying Fish spring creek barramundi, miso glazed beef short rib, followed by cherry blossom pannacotta and Flying Fish seasonal berries.

Tracy Bevan, McGrath Foundation Ambassador & Director said, “We are so grateful to have the support of the ATC Foundation in raising funds for the McGrath Foundation and our McGrath Breast Care Nurses. This support goes a long way for patients and families going through breast cancer, and helps bring us closer to our goal of ensuring no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse.”

A highlight of the lunch will be a vibrant autumn racewear fashion show, featuring some of the latest collection from one of Australia’s most revered fashion brands (soon to be announced). Guests can also get up close for an exclusive photo opportunity with the iconic Longines Golden Slipper trophy, and dance away to an exclusive live performance by ARIA Award-winning artist, Paulini, one of only 10 Australian female solo artists to have a #1 album debut on the Australian ARIA Charts.

Paulini said, “With my Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat performance scheduled in Sydney, alongside returning to Rosehill Gardens for a second year in a row, I’m thrilled to be performing at this special event. It’s going to be an incredible day of entertainment, racing, food and fashion, with all funds going to a great cause.”

Outside the event, racegoers can witness Australia’s finest fillies and mares compete in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic and explore the colour and excitement of Carnival around the track at Destination Chandon, Ned Whisky Bar, Petaluma Wine Bar, Furphy Bar, Pamper Stations and Kia vehicle display.

ATC Executive General Manager Commercial Melinda Madigan said: “Chandon Ladies Day featuring the annual Pink Fashion Lunch in support of the McGrath Foundation is a unique celebration of fashion, hospitality and entertainment against a backdrop of Sydney’s world-class carnival racing. From the moment you arrive on the pink carpet, it’s an occasion where incredible memories and stories will be shared and is one not to be missed”.

“We are proud that this year’s lunch will provide a unique and profiled platform to raise funds through the ATC Foundation for McGrath Foundation. We encourage everyone to wear a splash of pink and be trackside to celebrate the spectacular opening day of Sydney’s Autumn Racing Carnival whilst supporting an incredible cause”.

Racegoers will be encouraged to add a touch of pink to their raceday outfit on Chandon Ladies Day.

About the McGrath Foundation

The McGrath Foundation’s mission is to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse. The McGrath Foundation raises funds to support people with breast cancer by providing specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses where they are most needed across Australia.

The McGrath Foundation currently funds 193 nurses who provide essential physical and emotional support for free to anyone experiencing breast cancer and their families, from diagnosis and throughout their treatment. Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer for women in Australia, with 1 in 7 women expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. More than 200 men are expected to be diagnosed this year. As the rate of diagnoses increases, so too does the need for more McGrath Breast Care Nurses.

Funding is needed to meet our goal of 250 McGrath Breast Care Nurses by 2025.
