STARS ARE OUT FOR INGLIS MILLENNIUM DAY AT ROYAL RANDWICK

Some of the big names return to racing on Inglis Millennium Day at Royal Randwick on Saturday with 126 acceptors on the 10-race program headlined by the $2 million Inglis Millennium.

Just five weeks from the official start of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, Saturday also sees the running of the Group 3 $250,000 Silverdale Farm Eskimo Prince Stakes and Listed $200,000 Lonhro Plate for two-year-olds.

The $2 million Inglis Millennium sees 16 two-year-olds in action for huge prizemoney and bonuses and continues a pathway towards the Group 1 $5 million TAB Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens on 23 March.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering James Ross said racegoers will get an early taste of autumn with quality racing on Inglis Millennium Day.

“The Australian Turf Club is excited to once again join with our longstanding partner Inglis for the sixth running of the Inglis Millennium. This years capacity field also includes the fantastic initiative with the $400,000 Inglis Pink Bonus, which encourages female ownership and syndication.” This race is well timed with the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling sale with 808 lots on offer from Sunday through to Tuesday”

“Racegoers will also get an early look at three-year-olds including Group 1 winner Tom Kitten in the Group 3 Silverdale Farm Eskimo Price Stakes, who looks set for a big autumn carnival.”

“The Listed Lonhro Plate is a chance for another two-year-old to be unearthed as we countdown to the $5 million TAB Golden Slipper.”

The $2 million feature race sees Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with a strong hand with two runners in Fully Lit and Trunk. Fully Lit was an impressive victory on debut at Rosehill Gardens on 20 January and despite drawing barrier 17 is $3 favourite with TAB. Reegan Bayliss who rode the Hellbent colt to victory last start with take the ride on Saturday. Stablemate, Trunk, finished second at his only race start but was not far away in a recent trial won by Prost.

Chad Schofield has been successful in the last two Inglis Millennium’s and has a good chance to make it three-straight victories when he partners Rue De Royale for Tony and Calvin McEvoy. Rue De Royale is $8 at TAB and finished second in the Golden Gift last Spring behind Shangri La Express.

The Listed Darley Lonhro Plate for two-year-olds sees a field of 13 assembled with six first starters. Unbeaten I Am Invincible colt, Anode, for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott has drawn wide in barrier 13 but heads betting at $2.50 with TAB as he returns from a break. Celerity for Godolphin is a dual acceptor but the exciting filly will be one to watch if she steps out on Saturday in the 1000 metre race.

Godolphin and James Cummings have a strong record in the Group 3 Silverdale Farm Eskimo Prince Stakes having won the past two editions and three of the past five. The stable lines up Tom Kitten ($4.80 equal favourite) who broke through for Group 1 success last preparation in the Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes. Caulfield Guineas winner, Griff, for Ciaron Maher shares the top of betting with Tom Kitten at TAB.

There will be an exhibition gallop following the running of race 2 by the Annabel Neasham trained pair Learning To Fly (Chad Schofield) and Libertad (Reegan Bayliss) over 1000 metres. Following race 3, the Chris Waller trained group of Buckaroo (Tommy Berry), Fangirl (Kerrin McEvoy) and Militarize (Jason Collett) will gallop separately over 1000 metres.
