SPORTING CHANCE CANCER FOUNDATION RACEDAY BACK AS A ROYAL RANDWICK FAVOURITE
May 26, 2021
The Australian Turf Club welcomes one of its longest-running charity partners back to Royal Randwick this Saturday for Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Raceday.
Following the disruption of COVID-19 last year which prevented events on course, Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation returns for a near sold-out function in the Royal Randwick Ballroom – continuing a 15-year partnership with Sydney racing.
On another big Saturday with 124 acceptors over nine races, the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation will hold a function of almost 600 people in the Ballroom to raise awareness and funds for young cancer sufferers and their families.
Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation was started in 1998 by former Australian Cricket Captain Mark Taylor, rugby league legend the late Reg Gasnier, Olympian Raelene Boyle and triple Brownlow Medalist Bob Skilton.
Legendary Sydney racing media figure and journalist Ken Callander is also a patron of the Foundation.
Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Director Jack Hughes said: “Founded in 1998, the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation has provided more than $15 million to support outreach nurses helping children with cancer to remain at home for as long as possible whilst still undergoing treatment.
“The support afforded to us by the Australian Turf Club has been nothing short of outstanding.
“From the office team to catering staff and event managers nothing is too difficult. It always leads to a fantastic day in the ballroom with the end result a lot of money raised for kids with cancer across NSW.”
Raceday sponsors aiding the foundation this Saturday include Fujitsu Air Conditioning, Wilson Asset Management, Taylor Constructions, Uphire, Ironmark, NSW M&H Air & Precise Air.
All patrons attending this Saturday must pre-register and book tickets online at TheRaces.com.au
Along with some COVID protocols and restrictions easing, patrons on course this Saturday can use NSW Government Dine and Discover vouchers, which are redeemable at Australian Turf Club venues.
Saturday’s first race is due to start at 11.25am and the final race at 4.25pm.
Gates open at 10.15am for Australian Turf Club Members and at 10.30am for General Admission customers.
