The Australian Turf Club (ATC) welcomes The Star’s award-winning Executive Chef of Sydney’s Sokyo and the Gold Coast’s Kiyomi, Chase Kojima as the official Culinary Ambassador for the 2021 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Australia’s leading and most influential Japanese chef will curate exquisite menus across the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival and The Star Championships, starting with a decadent three-course luncheon for the Pink Fashion Lunch supporting the McGrath Foundation on Chandon Ladies Day, Saturday 13 March at Rosehill Gardens.
Kojima will also be creating bespoke menus for the Slipper Club Luncheon and Chandon Champagne Bar on Western Sydney’s most prestigious raceday, Longines Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens, March 20 as well as The Grandview and Centennial Restaurant’s across the famed two weeks (April 3-10) of The Star Championships at Royal Randwick.
Trained by his father and well-regarded Japanese Chef Sachio Kojima, Chase Kojima has led kitchens all over the world. Kojima moved to Australia in 2011 and made his mark on the Australian culinary scene after securing significant roles at some of Sydney and the Gold Coast’s most acclaimed restaurants, including The Star’s Sokyo, The Star Gold Coast’s Kiyomi and CHUUKA at Jones Bay Wharf.
Kojima said he was excited to curate a unique menu for both Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens featuring some of his most sought-after dishes which will showcase his imaginative spin on traditional Japanese flavours, whilst working alongside the Australian Turf Club culinary teams led by George Mullen and Gerry Maher at Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens respectively.
“I am excited to join the Australian Turf Club as Culinary Ambassador for the Autumn Carnival, and look forward to offering my support to the McGrath Foundation at the Pink Fashion Lunch, where I’ll be creating a special pink dessert.
“I cannot wait to put my Japanese spin on some classic dishes with the best seasonal produce trackside and invite racegoers back to The Star to continue the celebrations after the last horse has passed the post,” said Kojima.
Corina Black, Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Commercial, said she is honoured to welcome Kojima as Culinary Ambassador across the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival to produce a unique and exciting hospitality experience for racegoers and food lovers alike.
“The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival celebrates world-class racing and hospitality and we’re thrilled to be showcasing a world-class chef such as Chase Kojima, who will undoubtedly deliver a fresh and flavourful Japanese-inspired menu for guests attending this year’s Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
“Chase will be curating a highly-anticipated menu for our popular Pink Fashion Lunch in support of the McGrath Foundation on Chandon Ladies Day, and a number of restaurants across Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens during March and April,” said Ms Black.
