The Winter Challenge Race Day this Saturday, 29 July at Rosehill Gardens will mark the final day of the 2016/17 season.
To thank owners for their support and participation at one of the Australian Turf Club’s venues this season, the Club has introduced a range of awards to recognise participation and success in metropolitan racing in 2016-17 to be presented at a morning tea on course this weekend.
While the titles for the NSW Metropolitan Trainers Premiership (Chris Waller) and NSW Metropolitan Apprentice Premiership (Andrew Adkins) have been finalized, the race for the NSW Metropolitan Jockey Premiership race continues between Hugh Bowman and Brenton Avdulla.
Bowman has increased his lead for the crown to 2.5 wins after claiming a treble at Canterbury Park on Wednesday.
Bowman will partner with the $4.20 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, Gold Symphony for Snowden Racing in the day’s feature race, the Listed $150,000 Winter Challenge.
The four-year-old gelding finished unplaced in the Listed Winter Stakes last start after being held up for a run.
Avdulla takes the ride on Liapari ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds) who sits on the second line of betting.
Trained by Chris Waller, the Reward For Effort gelding was strong to the line for a last start win at Warwick Farm on 8 July.
