Rivalry renewed in Concorde Stakes
Nature Strip and Eduardo settle to battle it out once more
August 29, 2023
Two of the best modern-day sprinters will do battle once again this Saturday at Royal Randwick.
Nature Strip and Eduardo, who between them have won over $26million in prizemoney, are two of the star nominations for the Group 3 Concorde Stakes.
Other big names among the noms include fellow Group 1 winners In Secret, Bella Nipotina and Shelby Sixtysix.
It’s the potential battle between Eduardo and Nature Strip that is likely to capture most attention though. The pair have clashed on 12 previous occasions with the score firmly in favour of Nature Strip, eight wins to four.
That said, Eduardo has beaten the Chris Waller-trained runner over the 1000 metres at Royal Randwick previously and won this race 12 months ago quite comfortably. View the replay here. He hasn’t been seen at the races since finishing down the track in the Kingsford-Smith Cup at Eagle Farm behind stablemate, Think About It.
As for Nature Strip, his last run before going for a spell was a fourth in the TJ Smith Stakes behind I Wish I Win.
TAB Fixed Odds has Godolphin mare In Secret and Nature Strip as equal $2.80 favourites in the ‘All In’ market, while Eduardo is on the next line of betting at $4.50.
