One race meeting and an official set of trials for two year olds will be transferred from Canterbury Park to allow a renovation of the racecourse surface ahead of an expanded night racing season.
The fixture amendments will benefit the surface, given the substantial program of racing conducted throughout the winter months with an above average rainfall during the period
The scheduled race meeting for Wednesday 28 September will be held at Rosehill Gardens.
The two year old trials on Monday 19 September will now be held on the Royal Randwick course proper.
ATC Executive General Manager of Racing James Heddo said the transfers will allow remedial work to be carried out on sections of the Canterbury Park track.
“The renovation works will include verti-draining, hollow coring and light scarifying and will ensure the Canterbury Park course proper is in optimum condition for the night racing season that commences on Friday 21 October,” Mr Heddo said.
“A review of next year’s racing schedule and associated renovation plans for all ATC venues will also be undertaken to ensure that our tracks are presented in optimum condition all year around.”
A total of nine night racing meetings will be held at Canterbury Park this season, from 21 October, through the summer months and until 17 February 2017.
