A day rich in tradition, The Star Championships Day 1 is headlined by the $2 million Group 1 Bentley Australian Derby and the $3 million Group 1 The Star Doncaster Mile, first run in 1861 and 1866 respectively. The $2.5 million Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes and the $1 million Group 1 Inglis Sires’ also feature on a high quality 10-race card.
As a nod to traditions, guests are encouraged to dress in black and white at this most elegant of racedays.
Off the track, Fashion Stakes competition, live DJs, pop-up bars, uplifting hospitality experiences and pop-ups from Sydney’s finest street vendors create an unforgettable atmosphere. Time-travelling DJ, Hot Dub Time Machine will bring his infectious tunes to the Theatre of the Horse after the last. Don’t forget too that dancing is back after COVID restrictions were recently eased.
