RACEGOERS CELEBRATE FEAST OF RACING ACROSS CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR
December 21, 2022
The Australian Turf Club will host four metropolitan meetings over eight days of the upcoming Christmas and New Year season – giving Sydney racegoers a variety of options to celebrate on track.
Entry is free for all customers to Royal Randwick this Saturday for the ten-race card on a Christmas Eve raceday.
The meeting has attracted 126 acceptors including a clash of three crack two-year-olds in the $150,000 Drinkwise Plate as the youngsters look to further claims towards the $5 million Longines Golden Slipper and other feature races in coming months.
Following Saturday’s Christmas Eve raceday, further Sydney meetings will be at:
- Boxing Day at Royal Randwick (Monday 26 December) featuring the Group 3 $200,000 Summer Cup and includes free entry for all racegoers with the first race starting at 1.35pm;
- New Year’s Eve at Royal Randwick (Saturday 31 December) with the first race at 12.20pm and the last race at 6pm;
- A twilight meeting on New Year’s Day (Saturday 1 January) as part of the KIA Night Racing season at Canterbury Park featuring the Listed $160,000 Canterbury Sprint, with race 1 at 3.20pm and the final race at 7.30pm.
The Canterbury Park New Year’s Day meeting will also offer free entry for all customers and include the popular Foodies Markets across a variety of stalls, along with a host of free children’s and family entertainment.
On Saturday at Royal Randwick, the first race of the day holds huge interest for upcoming two-year-old features.
