Rosehill Gardens will host the inaugural ASX Thomson Reuters Charity Foundation Race Day this Saturday, 4 June 2016.

The race day is set to become one of the biggest fundraising days on the calendar for the Foundation where more than 50 sponsors will be in attendance to support 18 participating children’s, disability and medical research charities including the National Jockeys Trust.

Some of Australia’s best known racing personalities and institutions will attend a sold out 1,500 person function in the Grand Pavilion which will aim to raise over $250,000 during the afternoon.

Australian Turf Club Chief Operating Officer Tony Partridge said the race day is a great way the Club can contribute to raising money for charity.

“The Australian Turf Club is very pleased to have ASX Thomson Reuters Charity Foundation host their inaugural fundraising event at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday,” said Mr Partridge.

“The event in the Grand Pavilion will be the largest race day event ever held at the venue and it is wonderful that a portion of the proceeds will be distributed a number to charity organisations.”

On the track, Chris Waller’s Harlem Lady has opened as the $4.20 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in the $85,000 TPG Handicap. A vet’s examination showed mild lameness following the four-year-old’s less than impressive sixth place run last start, however will be looking to emulate her win from the start prior when she faces the starter this weekend.

Competition will come from Pindan Pearl ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds) for Tim Martin who will be searching for back-to-back wins after a strong run to the post on 21 May at Rosehill Gardens.

Running second to Pindan Pearl that run was Distraught ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) for Godolphin Racing, who too will line up in the 1500m race. The daughter of Domesday is yet to be tested over the distance.

The $85,000 Pro IT Handicap has Gai Waterhouse-trained Supply and Demand ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds) favoured in a wide open race. The well-bred Sebring gelding had no luck from Barrier 8 last start, however did show resilience to the line to finish third.

Lightly raced three-year-old Roguish from the Tim Martin Stable has opened at $6.50 TAB Fixed Odds). Boasting two wins from two starts in his career, the gelding will be challenged by the 1500m.

Punters cannot separate Farolitos for John O’Shea and Chris Waller-trained Disgraceful in the $85,000 Monaco Cup who have both opened at $4.20 TAB Fixed Odds.

Both geldings fell just short in each of their last starts.

While Farolitos is proven over the 1500m, Disgraceful will have the weight advantage of carrying 58.5kg, 1kg lighter than Farolitos.

Racegoers can bring their family and friends along for an affordable day at the track with the Club offering a ‘Three and Free’ ticketing bundle, where customers who buy three general admission tickets will receive the fourth for free. This ticketing offer is available for pre-purchase at ticketek.com.au.

Adult general admission tickets are available for $15.00 at ticketek.com.au.

Gates Open at 10.30am with the first race at 11.25am.

Rosehill Gardens has free high-capacity WiFi across the racecourse precinct.

There is free public parking off James Ruse Drive as well as free parking in the infield from the Unwin Road entrance.
