Queen Elizabeth II Honoured in Feature Race at Rosehill Gardens
10 June, 2026
The Listed $200,000 The Queen Elizabeth II Cup headlines this Saturday’s program at Rosehill Gardens in honour of the popular former UK monarch and racing supporter.
The feature race named in Her Majesty’s honour is run annually each year at rotating Australian interstate venues under Blacktype conditions over 2400m or longer.
On Saturday’s 10-race card the race is held under its officially registered name of the Winter Cup.
Australian Turf Club CEO Steve McMahon said the Club was pleased to join in the Racing Australia-led ongoing remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II.
“Queen Elizabeth II was a massive racing fan and supporter of our sport and her history is also intertwined with the Australian Turf Club,’’ Mr McMahon said.
“Her Majesty attended the races in Sydney on several visits to Australia and owned and raced her own horses on our tracks.
“We are delighted to be able to recognise her lasting links and popularity with racing and the wider community.’’
In The Listed $200,000 The Queen Elizabeth II Cup, the Bjorn Baker trained Thebudgiesmugla and jockey Dylan Gibbons opens a well-backed $3.60-$3.10 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in early betting.
Black Run for the Annabel and Rob Archibald stable with Braith Nock aboard is at $4.80 TAB Fixed Odds.
In a competitive betting race, three horses are all at $6 TAB Fixed Odds in early markets – Portland (Matthew Smith/Winona Costin), Maison Louis (Tom Charlton/Andrew Adknis) and Caboche (Chris Waller/Reece Jones).
Full fields for Rosehill Gardens are available here and full TAB markets for all ten races are available here.
Saturday continues the ATC’s Winter Long Lunch – a three-course five-hour dining experience in Rosehill Gardens’ Winning Post Restaurant.
Full details of Saturday’s offer along with future racedays are available here.
The Winter Long Lunch will run until the end of August and is available for both ATC Members and non-Members.
