POPULAR KIA FRIDAY NIGHT RACING SERIES RETURNS TO CANTERBURY PARK

November 10, 2021

The Australian Turf Club’s hugely popular KIA Friday Night Series at Canterbury Park returns this Friday with eight races and free family entertainment, food and dining options.

Schweppes Opening Night is the first of ten Friday night meetings across November, December, January and February and features the renowned Canterbury Park Foodies Markets spread across trackside lawns.

The KIA Friday Night Series coincides with the 150th anniversary of racing at Canterbury Park as the Australian Turf Club continues to build new audiences around the local community.

Adults can pre-register tickets for $10 here and with the booking will receive a $10 beverage voucher to use at ATC outlets.

The third renewal of the Summer Sprint Series and the addition of the Night Rider Jockey Challenge, involving points allocated across the 10 Night meetings, adds to the series.

With a live music atmosphere on trackside lawns, families have free entertainment including pony rides and a petting zoo, a jumping castle and several amusement rides.

Hospitality packages inside the Guineas Restaurant with panoramic views across the racecourse are available here.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Jamie Barkley welcomed the return of KIA Friday Night Series as one of Sydney’s fastest growing racing and family events.

“The Australian Turf Club has achieved record crowds of up to 10,000 spectators in recent seasons at Canterbury Park and with Sydney emerging from lockdown we look forward to another big season,’’ Mr Barkley said.

“Free family entertainment, food stalls, to outstanding hospitality in the Guineas Restaurant, Canterbury Park is one of Sydney’s favourite starts to the weekend.’’

Race 1 on Friday is 6pm with just 30 minute gaps between races until race 8 at 9.30pm. Gates open at 5pm.

Full fields for Friday night’s Schweppes Opening Night are available here.

The Canterbury Park track was rated a Soft 6 but with rain forecast to fall over coming days.
