Nine Highlights On The Championships Day 2

Royal Randwick is set to shine with The Championships Day 2, Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day this Saturday, 8 April with a strong international contingent.

The highlight of the day will be the 70th running of the $5 million Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes with star Anamoe aiming for a 10th Group 1 victory.

The day features four Group 1 races it will be a day of world-class racing as well as the best food, fashion and entertainment. The day finishes with a bang with a huge performance from Hot Dub Time Machine.

Gates open at 10.30am and race 1 at 11.40am with public transport included in the purchase of your ticket. Tickets $35. 

Here are nine highlights not to miss.

  1. Enter the Longines Prize for Elegance

Step up and step out in your raceday best and enter the Longines Prize for Elegance with a chance to win an elegant Longines Flagship watch, awarded to the winner at both namesake events.

The Longines Prize for Elegance, which recognises the most elegant female racegoer, celebrates the brand’s longstanding motto “Elegance is an attitude”. For inspiration check out our 2023 Autumn Style Guide.

Upload your photo via the entry form which is open 10am – 2pm on Saturday. Keep an eye on our social channels, or the big screen if you’re on course for the ‘Winners’ announcement. We have two categories featuring Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Male.

2. Glam up in the Pamper Pavilion

Check out The Pamper Pavilion, a brand-new uniquely curated space exclusive to Royal Randwick racedays this carnival to ensure you look and feel your best all day long. From complimentary hair and makeup touch ups, photo moments, fashion illustrators, entertainment, and beverages, this is the destination for all your raceday essentials. 3. Check out the world-class WINX Stand

The impressive WINX Stand named after the legendary mare is open to all racegoers to enjoy.  The ground floor will feature DJ and food outlets which opens up on to the Leger lawn to get close to the racing action. Upstairs in The Gallery North Room will feature a sports bar with bespoke food offering and betting activation powered by Racing & Sports. While The Gallery South has DJs with cocktails and tapas. The open terrace is also home to the Happy Clapper Bar which has one of the best views on track. Watch here. 

4. Experience the TAB Dome

Step inside the future of betting at the TAB Dome, get the inside scoop about the new TAB app and the powerful tools and features it provides. A purpose-built APP LAB has been designed to place bets and watch the days races. Head to the TAB Dome to experience racing like never before.

5. $5 million Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 3.55pm

The 70th running of the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes features a world-class field. Anamoe for Godolphin and James Cummings will be ridden by James McDonald and is going for 10 Group 1 victories. UK star, Dubai Honour, to be ridden by Tom Marquand and trained by William Haggas is the main challenger as the pair go for their third win in the race. Japan is represented with Unicorn Lion.

6. $2 million Schweppes Sydney Cup – 3.15pm

The time-honored Schweppes Sydney Cup run over 3200 metres features a quality field. Cleveland is the one to beat who is in the care of Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien and will be ridden by top Aussie jockey Kerrin McEvoy. Best of the local chances is King Frankel to be ridden by leading apprentice Tyler Schiller for Mark Newnham.

The day is filled with 10 races including four Group 1 races which also includes The Star Australian Oaks and Sydney Queen of the Turf.

7. Be trackside at Royal Randwick to receive your own slice of history 

Racegoers who attend will be able to redeem a special digital collectible featuring the 70th running of the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Ticket purchasers will receive an email with more details and option to redeem following the raceday.

8. Indulge in raceday fare 

Enjoy some great quality food & beverage outlets at Royal Randwick this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

9. Dance away the day to Hot Dub Time Machine 

The world’s first time-travelling DJ, Tom Loud of Hot Dub Time Machine, will bring his infectious retro tunes back to Royal Randwick following the last race. It is set to be a performance which is not to be missed in the Theatre of the Horse.
