The Australian Turf Club Heritage Centre has recently taken receipt of several donations to the collection.

This is the Heritage Centre’s primary means of growing the collection, finding out more about the history of racing and having content for its displays. While there are some things that unfortunately have to be refused – due to having numerous copies, or if the item is in too poor condition, the Heritage Centre generally tries to accept material that is offered, as long as it is relevant to the history of racing in NSW – the key criteria in the collection development policy.

Recent acceptances have included a box of race books from the 1970s. The Centre also received a selection of race finishes and trophies from a family who have owned horses for many years. With a focus on race wins at provincial tracks there are also images from our metropolitan racecourses and sashes from Group 1 ATC races. The Heritage Centre is yet to catalogue all this material but looks forward to the process of finding out more about the items and the history behind them.
