The Board of the Australian Turf Club today elected Matthew McGrath as Chairman following the successful term of Laurie Macri.
ATC Director Julia Ritchie was elected as Vice-Chair.
Mr McGrath, who has been an ATC Director since February 2015, paid tribute to Mr Macri.
“It is a great honour to be elected by the Board to continue the outstanding work Laurie has led as Chairman over recent years,” Mr McGrath said.
“Laurie has served with great distinction as a Director and Chairman, and his announcement last week selflessly recognised the need for the next stage of succession planning for the future of the Club and Sydney racing.
“Amongst Laurie’s many great achievements has been the strong focus of building and improving our racing and training infrastructure.
“He has made the club’s core strategy our racing program and we look forward to continuing to make Sydney racing at least the equal of anywhere in the world.
“As Chairman, I especially look forward to working with our new CEO Jamie Barkley, and all of the management and staff at the ATC.”
Mr McGrath and Ms Ritchie’s appointments are effective immediately, and Mr Macri remains an ATC Director.
