The Australian Turf Club (ATC) has announced world-class rock musician Jon Stevens as the headline act on Longines Golden Slipper Day, Saturday 20 March 2021, at Rosehill Gardens.

Revered as the legendary lead singer of iconic Aussie band Noiseworks, Stevens will perform an array of the band’s most popular hits such as Take Me Back, Touch , and Hot Chilli Woman, along with classics from his late friend Michael Hutchence’s INXS including New Sensation, Never Tear Us Apart and Need You Tonight after the last race at Rosehill Gardens.

Stevens was due to perform at the 2020 Longines Golden Slipper Day however like many other live entertainment acts, the concert was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. The setback has only increased the rocker’s appetite to get back out there and electrify audiences with his Noiseworks & INXS Collection and Red Hot Summer National Tours and guest appearance on Longines Golden Slipper Day.

“I’ve missed the buzz of performing live on stage to a crowd and can’t wait to be rocking out with Western Sydney on Golden Slipper Day with some classics. It’s going to be a really exciting day and one you won’t want to miss,” Stevens said.

Often regarded as Australia’s best stallion-making contest, this year sees the 65th running of the $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper (1200m), with an impressive depth of juveniles including Profiteer, Enthaar, and Remarque entered for the world’s richest two-year-old race on March 20. The iconic day features a whopping five Group 1 races making it a standout event across the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Off the track premium hospitality experiences, pop-up bars and Sydney’s finest street vendors will deliver an unforgettable atmosphere for racegoers in a COVID Safe environment, whilst the coveted Longines Prize for Elegance fashion competition will be back with a twist.

Corina Black, ATC Executive General Manager of Commercial is looking forward to welcoming Stevens to Western Sydney’s jewel in the crown, Longines Golden Slipper Day.

“Jon Stevens is known as one of the world’s best live performers, a true showman who brings a high-energy buzz and remarkable vocals to every performance. We are absolutely thrilled to secure a world-class performer of his calibre for Longines Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens and help bring live music back to Sydney this year,” Ms Black said.

“This is Sydney’s time to celebrate. A day at the races during Sydney Autumn Carnival remains a true entertainment experience from the exciting Group 1 racing, world-class hospitality to the top-quality live entertainment.”
