EQUINE PATHWAYS AUSTRALIA IGNITES KATE'S PASSION TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA

Former jockey Kate Nipperess overcomes odds to get back on the saddle following a devastating fall.

Six years ago, she suffered a trackwork accident at Warwick Farm which left her a paraplegic, but now she’s determined to compete in the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

Growing up she always had a love of horses and shares her journey in an interview with Sky Racing’s Corey Brown.

She talks about growing up around horses, winning her first race, the dark times following her accident and now her goal to represent Australia in the Paralympics.

In May, Equine Pathways Australia conducted a clinic at Riding For The Disabled’s ‘Tall Timbers’ in Box Hill, which was attended by Kate Nipperess. It was her first time on a horse since suffering her injury which left her a paraplegic. The experience that was provided and being back around horses has left her excited to look ahead and consider representing Australia. A truly inspiring story.

The ATC Foundation is delighted to have played a role in helping Equine Pathways Australia (EPA) expand their program from Victoria to the community in Sydney and around NSW with a $24,000 grant.
