I WISH I WIN SOARS IN THE XXXX GOLDEN EAGLE
Peter Moody and Luke Nolen team up for another Group 1
October 30, 2022
The sun was out for Rosehill Gardens biggest day of the Sydney Everest Carnival.
Racegoers flocked to enjoy the 10-race program with the $10 million XXXX Golden Eagle the headline act on the program.
For the second year in a row, it was a Victorian galloper who stole the show with I Wish I Win for Peter Moody and jockey Luke Nolen winning the fourth running of the $10 million race.
The famous trainer-jockey partnership teaming up again to claim a major race, giving them over 900 victories together.
The victory also meant their aligned charity Muscular Dystrophy Foundation NSW will receive $525,000. Each runner was aligned to a charity with a total of $1 million donated to 20 charities.
Fangirl with Hugh Bowman in the saddle, who won the race last year, flew home but couldn’t gather in the winner.
In other racing news, Private Eye for Joe Pride ridden by Brenton Avdulla went one better than the TAB Everest and won the $3 million Nature Strip Stakes against a hot field.

The ever-consistent Mazu finished in second place, which was enough to secure the $6 million Sprint Series.
The day finished with a party atmosphere as racegoers enjoyed a free after the last performance by hit UK and Rudimental.
The Sydney Everest Carnival continues at Royal Randwick on Tuesday for Big Dance on Cup Day with the inaugural running of the $2 million Big Dance (2.20pm).
Rudimental are back to treat racegoers with a free performance to finish the day.
The huge Sydney Everest Carnival wraps up next Saturday at Rosehill Gardens for Five Diamonds Ladies Day.
