Five Things To Expect On Stakes Day
28 March, 2024
Rosehill Gardens plays host to its final day of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival – Stakes Day.
After having successfully hosted Chandon Ladies Day and TAB Golden Slipper Day, Stakes Day will be the third consecutive week that has seen carnival action at Rosehill Gardens.
Here are FIVE things to expect on Stakes Day:
1. Group 1 action
An action-packed 10-race program will be highlighted by two Group 1 features! The $1 million Kia Tancred Stakes (2400 metres) is a key lead-up to the Sydney Cup in a fortnight’s time. Post Impressionist, an emphatic winner of the Manion Cup last Saturday, is favourite with TAB at $2.40. The other Group 1 on the day is for the mares – the $750,000 Vinery Stud Stakes. New Zealand’s best filly, Orchestral, makes her Australian debut is a hot $1.60 favourite with TAB to notch her fifth straight win! She comes into this off the back of a huge win in the New Zealand Oaks.
2. Family fun freebies!
Stakes Day is recognised as Free Family Fun Day by the Australian Turf Club. Special guest on the day will be the Easter Bunny, so kids (and parents!) get the chance for a meet and greet. There’s plenty of entertainment and fun including amusement rides, face-painting, pony rides, petting zoo and much more. And best of all, it’s free! The first 200 kids through the gates also land themselves an activity pack.
3. Eats In The Garden
Enjoy the variety of food trucks on offer. Located in the Old Betting Ring, Eats In The Garden will feature The Smokehouse and Greek Street while you can grab yourself a beer at the James Squire Bar. Don’t miss out on Hayden Quinn’s limited edition Pulled Pork burgers! Check out food and drink options.
4. Photo Moment
Grab a photo with the $5 million TAB Golden Slipper trophy! Staff will be on hand to take photos of you with the trophy between 11am and 3pm. Located beside the turnstiles in the Old Betting Ring adjacent to Eats In The Garden.
5. Kia EV9 display
Check out the latest of Kia’s electric revolution technology! The EV9 is a sleek, luxurious vehicle and will be on display in the Railway Forecourt throughout the afternoon.
