Today the historic Octagonal Building houses the Malt Shovel Taphouse serving rotisserie dishes and craft ales. From 1917 until late into the 20th Century it housed the automated totalisator, a technological wonder of pullys and levers which worked out odds and allowed betting on-course for the first time.
