The world’s richest turf race, the $15 million TAB Everest will headline at Royal Randwick on Saturday 16 October as the Australian Turf Club hosts Sydney’s first major event post lockdown for up to 10,000 fully vaccinated spectators under NSW Government Public Health Orders.
A world-class event steeped in fashion, entertainment and fun, Everest Day promises to deliver an electric atmosphere, led by newly announced Everest Carnival Ambassador Sophie Dillman.
Since joining Channel 7’s Home and Away playing Ziggy Astoni, Sophie Dillman has cemented herself as a fan favourite on Australia’s number one TV drama. Her remarkable talent was acknowledged in 2018 when she was a finalist for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at the TV Week Logie Awards.
“I’m so thrilled to be this year’s Everest Carnival Ambassador. I can’t wait to get glammed up, wear a beautiful dress and headwear and put on a pair of heels again for Everest Day at Royal Randwick!
“I’m looking forward to seeing all the trackside colour and fashion and then judging Spring Fashion Stakes on one of the most glamorous days on the Australian racing calendar,” said Dillman.
Open to women, men and households across Australia, the digital Spring Fashion Stakes competition offers $25,000 in cash and prizes to be won from Dyson, Chandon Garden Spritz, FIGUR, Runway Room, Jo Malone London and White Claw. Either from home or trackside, entrants simply upload a photo or video of themselves in racewear from 7 am-2 pm on Everest Day to australianturfclub.com.au/fashionstakes for a chance to win.
Everest Day Spring Fashion Judges include Sophie Dillman, Australian Turf Club Stylist and Resident Fashion Stakes Judge Donny Galella, Fashion Stakes Ambassador Jules Robinson, and Dyson Global Styling Ambassador Peter Thomsen.
The $625,000 TAB Everest trophy, designed by Cerrone featuring 8000 black and white diamonds, and rubies, will be delivered in style by Olympian Rohan Browning, who will ride in the 2021 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible along the front horse walk at 3.49 pm.
