A sell-out crowd, Sailor Brinkley Cook, Jesinta Franklin, Kate Waterhouse, Samantha Jade, and a stable of TV stars said farewell to the 2018 Longines World’s Best Racehorse, Winx, at The Championships Day 2 – Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Sydney’s most fashionable fillies and racing enthusiasts descended on Royal Randwick and witnessed a true moment in history with the retiring of champion mare Winx following her third-straight $4 million Group 1 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes win at Royal Randwick.
One of the greatest racehorses to have graced the turf, the seven-year-old daughter of Street Cry out of Vegas Showgirl has now earned more than $24 million in prizemoney, 37 wins including 33 straight victories and 25 Group 1s while winning the hearts of millions the world over.
On course and kicking off the festivities were Sailor Brinkley Cook, star model and ATC Autumn Racing International Guest, Jesinta Franklin, 2019 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Ambassador, Kate Waterhouse, ATC Autumn Racing Ambassador, Samantha Jade, singer, and Chloe Esposito, Pentathlon Gold Medallist Olympian, while Australia’s most-loved TV stars from the Seven Network are also trackside including My Kitchen Rules duo Matt Gawthrop and Luke Stewart and Home and Away cast members.
