Following the NSW Government today advising of additional COVID-19 positives in Sydney’s Inner West and the Wollongong region, Racing NSW has taken further expert advice in respect to upcoming race meetings.
The Australian Turf Club is also acting proactively with the Racing NSW and the NSW Government’s advice around COVID-safety.
In accordance with that advice, and in addition to the protocols released on 23 December 2020, the race meetings scheduled to be conducted at Canterbury 1 January 2021 and Royal Randwick (Kensington) 2 January 2021 will be will be run under tightened industry-leading COVID-safety operations and closed to General Admission customers.
Only Essential Personnel and Officials, Owners (who have horses racing at these meetings) ATC Members and pre-booked ATC Members hospitality ticket holders will be permitted to attend.
ATC Members and Owners will be required to remain seated indoors in designated areas within the racecourse’s grandstands and function spaces.
Racing will continue however General Admission customers who pre-purchased tickets will be eligible for a refund given they will not be able to attend.
Full refunds will be made on all pre-purchased General Admission tickets and may take up to five business days to process.
Payments will be reversed automatically, so there is no need to contact the Australian Turf Club or Moshtix. Members and Owners with existing ticketing will be contacted by Australian Turf Club directly.

– Canterbury Social Beer Garden
– Trackside Lawn # 1 & Ground Floor Clyde Kennedy Stand
– Trackside Lawn # 2 & Ground Floor Clyde Kennedy Stand
– Sky High Bar – Level 2 Clyde Kennedy Stand
– Galaxies Room
Randwick General Admission areas include:
– Kensington Room
Amongst other pro-active health and safety measures implemented by the Australian Turf Club are:
– Jockeys located in several isolated groups on-course, along with trainers and key racing industry personnel
– Increased hygiene and safe social distancing according to NSW Government Health Orders
Canterbury Park will host racedays on 8 and 22 January and Royal Randwick will host racedays on 9 and 23 January 2021, where it is hoped general admission attendance will be available but pending any further COVID-19 restrictions at the time.
