Autumn Glow Descends Over Royal Randwick For A Verry Special Day

25 February, 2026

The rising superstar of Australian racing – the unbeaten Autumn Glow – returns to Royal Randwick this Saturday in the Group 1 $1 million TAB Verry Elleegant Stakes as she vies for a tenth consecutive victory.

The Australian Turf Club will offer a special raceday promotion and is encouraging punters to join a celebration of trainer Chris Waller’s star galloper, who is capturing the imagination of the public.

Patrons on course are invited to wear a splash of black and yellow to match the Arrowfield silks worn by champion jockey James McDonald.

All ATC Members and General Admission ticket holders who scan through the gates on Saturday will have the chance to win an exclusive package for two on TAB Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens on 21 March.

The prize includes private transfers within metro Sydney, a personal meet and greet on arrival, an Owners’ Enclosure race experience, and lunch for two at the sold-out TAB Slipper Club with a premium dining and beverage package.

Australian Turf Club Interim CEO Steve McMahon said Autumn Glow has become the punters’ number one favourite as Sydney saw its first Group 1 races of the year.

“Autumn Glow is the most exciting horse we have seen since Winx and is already drawing comparisons with her immortal stablemate,’’ Mr McMahon said.

“These racedays come along all too rarely and are not-to-be-missed racing and social events.

“Seeing these great horses live on track is the ultimate racing experience and we want to celebrate this superstar racehorse with on-course punters in a special way.

“Not only can fans witness Autumn Glow racing for ten straight but patrons can also win an unforgettable prize on TAB Golden Slipper Day, Australia’s biggest day of Group 1 racing.

“An Autumn Glow descends over Royal Randwick on Saturday for the first Group 1 races in Sydney this year.’’

The Group 1 $1 million TAB Verry Elleegant Stakes and Group 1 $750,000 The Chase Surround Stakes are amongst six Group races on the 10-race card.

Autumn Glow opens a $1.30 TAB Fixed Odds favourite as her trainer Chris Waller attempts to win the race for a 12th time since 2011.

The stable has seven of the nine runners in the race.

Sir Delius – trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and to be ridden by Craig Williams – opens a $6 TAB second favourite, followed by Ceolwulf (Joe Pride and Chad Schofield) and Aeliana (Waller and Zac Lloyd) both at $11 TAB Fixed Odds.

The Group 1 $750,000 The Chase Surround Stakes features a clash of boom fillies in Tempted (Ciaron Maher and Chad Schofield) and Apocalyptic (Michael Freedman and Tommy Berry).

Tempted opens a $1.65 TAB favourite ahead of Apocalyptic at $4 TAB.

Two qualifying races for the Group 1 $5 million TAB Golden Slipper are run on Saturday – the Group 2 $300,000 Sintoro Sweet Embrace Stakes and Group 2 $300,000 Catanach’s Jewellers Skyline Stakes.

The Group 2 $300,000 Proven Thoroughbreds Guy Walter Stakes and Group 3 $250,000 HKJC World Pool Liverpool City Cup add further features to Saturday’s high-class meeting – just two weeks ahead of the official start of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Full fields for Royal Randwick this Saturday are available here and full TAB markets for all races here.

General admission tickets for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival – which runs from 14 March to 18 April at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick – are on sale, including the popular reserved trackside packages.
