Rosehill Gardens hosts the biggest day of Group 1 racing in Australia this Saturday 24 March, highlighted by the world’s richest race for two-year-olds the $3.5 million Group 1 Longines Golden Slipper.

The iconic $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper is the pinnacle event of a huge nine-race card which includes four other Group 1 races; the $1 million The Agency George Ryder Stakes, $700,000 Ranvet Stakes, $700,000 The PFD Food Services Galaxy, and a capacity field of three-year -olds in the $600,000 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas.

A full field of 16 runners line up in the Longines Golden Slipper, headed by Magic Millions and TAB Silver Slipper winner Sunlight ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds), and the Group 1 Blue Diamond winner Written By ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Sunlight trained by Tony McEvoy and ridden by Luke Currie is owned by an all-female syndicate.

Written By is owned and was bred by Hall Of Fame trainer Neville Begg who would become only the second person in history to separately breed, own and also train a Golden Slipper winner (he trained Dark Eclipse 1980) if his son and trainer Grahame Begg wins with the unbeaten colt.

Gai Waterhouse, who has trained a record-equaling six Golden Slipper winners, is aiming to break the record in partnership with Adrian Bott and their colt Santos ($8.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Sydney’s seven-time premiership winning trainer Chris Waller and champion jockey Hugh Bowman are both hoping for their first Longines Golden Slipper win with Performer ($9.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Waller also trains Fiesta ($18.00 TAB Fixed Odds), to be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy.

Jockey Tommy Berry has returned from Hong Kong to ride colt Aylmerton ($16.00 TAB Fixed Odds), whilst last year’s Longines Golden Slipper winning jockey and trainer Ben Melham and Gary Portelli would create a rare double if Secret Lady ($101.00 TAB Fixed Odds) won.

And jockey Kathy O’Hara on Sizzling Belle ($71.00 TAB Fixed Odds) would be the first female jockey in the history to win the Longines Golden Slipper.

These are some of those looking to create their own history in the Longines Golden Slipper, race 7 at 4.10pm.

The world’s equal highest rated horse Winx is a $1.10 TAB Fixed Odds favourite to win her third consecutive The Agency George Ryder Stakes, and is aiming for a 24th consecutive win, and a world record 17th Group 1 success.
