The Australian Turf Club has received the highest honour along with two other major awards for the Club’s outstanding food, hospitality and service at hundreds of events held at Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens.
Judges awarded the overall Best Caterer of The Year Award to the Australian Turf Club at the nationally-recognised NSW Restaurant and Catering Awards, held at a gala ceremony at Sydney’s The Star last night.
The Best Caterer of the Year Award recognises industry excellence and is given to the highest scoring venue in all categories among restaurants, convention events and venues across NSW.
The Australian Turf Club is now in the running for the highest national award amongst all state winners at the Savour Australia Hostplus Awards for Excellence in Brisbane in October.
The Australian Turf Club’s Rosehill Gardens last night won in the Best Convention and Events category, beating some of Sydney’s highest-profile function centres and venues.
Royal Randwick took out Best Events Caterer in the category.
The Australian Turf Club hosts almost 400 raceday and non-raceday events annually at its five venues Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Canterbury Park, Warwick Farm and Rosehill Bowling Club.
These events are attended by more than 853,000 people and are serviced by almost 3000 staff.
Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Jamie Barkley said the three awards were recognition of the thousands of highly skilled and dedicated staff at all of the Club’s venues.
“Our staff deserve all of the accolades for these awards which are contested by hundreds of venues and restaurants across NSW,” Mr Barkley said.
“We are especially delighted that Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick have both been recognised as amongst the very best venues for food and hospitality.
“Our teams are headed by two of Sydney’s finest Executive Chefs in George Mullen at Royal Randwick and Gerry Maher at Rosehill Gardens.
“From the kitchen staff, wait and service staff right through to our venue managers and leadership team at all of our venues our customers can always expect and enjoy award-winning hospitality.
“The Australian Turf Club is not only one of the best thoroughbred racing clubs in the world but also one the country’s outstanding leaders in food and hospitality.”
