As a mark of respect for the lives lost, and all those injured and affected by the terror attacks in Christchurch, the Australian Turf Club will hold a minute’s silence during today’s race meeting at Rosehill Gardens.

Flags on course will fly at half-mast throughout the day before the minute’s silence at 4.35pm, prior to the running of the day’s feature race the Group 1 Coolmore Classic.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Jamie Barkley sent the racing community’s condolences to the city of Christchurch and the people of New Zealand.

“Our Club and Australian racing has deep and close bonds with our New Zealand friends here and across the Tasman,” Mr Barkley said.

“We stand together with them today to respect those who have died and all those affected by this terrible tragedy.”
