Australian Turf Club Appointment of Independent Director
21 April, 2026
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are invited from individuals wishing to be considered for appointment as an independent director of the Australian Turf Club (ATC). The board of the ATC, a company limited by guarantee, comprises seven directors; four directors elected by ATC members and three independent directors appointed by the Minister for Gaming and Racing, the Hon David Harris MP, on the recommendation of a selection panel.
In line with section 10 of the Australian Jockey and Sydney Turf Clubs Merger Act 2010, Minister Harris has approved the commencement of an EOI process to fill two vacant independent director roles.
The selection panel established for the EOI process must be satisfied that a proposed director has experience in a senior administrative role or experience at a senior level in one or more of the fields of business, finance, law, marketing, technology, commerce, regulatory administration or regulatory enforcement.
The selection panel is required to choose between candidates based on merit, determined on the basis of a candidate’s abilities, qualifications, experience and personal qualities that are relevant to the performance of an ATC director’s duties.
Competitive candidates will be required to complete a comprehensive probity assessment to be eligible for appointment.
The NSW Government is committed to diversity and inclusivity on Government appointed boards and committees, and to leading and encouraging diversity in the racing industry. It welcomes EOIs from candidates with diverse backgrounds, in particular women candidates.
Closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 15 May 2026.
