Racing returns to Rosehill Gardens this Saturday after a seven-week break with huge fields across a nine-race card on Australian Racing Hall Of Fame Day.
A bumper total of 134 runners have accepted for the meeting, including 15 runners in the day’s feature race, the Listed $150,000 Lord Mayor’s Cup over 2000m.
In one of many wide-open betting fields on the card, Grey Lion for jockey Kathy O’Hara and Warwick Farm trainer Matthew Smith is the early $4.80 TAB favourite in the Lord Mayor’s Cup following his last start win in the Group 3 JRA Plate at the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Live And Free for trainer John O’Shea and jockey Rachel King is the $6 TAB second favourite, one of seven runners under double figure odds in the race.
Many of Saturday’s races have been named in recognition of Australian Racing Hall Of Fame members, including new inductees this year of jockey Hugh Bowman and legendary trainer Bart Cummings’ champion galloper So You Think.
Hall Of Fame Member jockey Jim Cassidy and Bart Cummings’ son Anthony will be among special guests at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
Jim Cassidy and Anthony Cummings will be part of an exclusive Australian Turf Club Members function ahead of the start of the race day.
Along with special interviews with the pair, ATC Members will see be able to view a range of displays in the Palms Brasserie around the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame during a complimentary morning tea from 10.30am.
The Australian Turf Club will also showcase special video presentations on the infield screen throughout the day to honour several inductees past and present.
The Rosehill Gardens track was rated a Good 4 on Thursday afternoon with fine weather forecast throughout Friday and Saturday.
A full video track report will be issued on Friday morning with Rosehill Gardens track manager Shaun Patterson following the course proper’s return to racing, with its last meeting held on 30 March.
Two gallopers from the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable – Hush Writer (Tommy Berry) and Wolfe (Rachel King) – will have an exhibition gallop over 1200m following race 1 on Saturday.
Gates for Australian Turf Club Members open at 10.15am on Saturday and 10.30am for general admission customers, with Race 1 due to jump at 11.30am.
Rosehill Gardens offers free parking, free entry for children under the age of 18 when accompanied by an adult, and free high capacity WiFi across the racecourse.
