ATC MEMBERS RECEIVE FULL INFORMATION ON $5 BILLION SALE PROPOSAL

ATC Members have today received a comprehensive Notice of Meeting information pack regarding the potential sale of Rosehill Gardens.

The pack includes detailed documents on the proposal, independent summaries of arguments for and against, and clear instructions on how to vote.

A majority of the ATC Board of Directors has recommended that Members vote in favour of the proposal and yes to the resolution.

Australian Turf Club Chairman Peter McGauran said: “We have listened to the Members and racing industry who have called for full information on many aspects of this proposal.

“The need for more information following a Racing NSW directive has delayed the vote until 27 May to allow Members more time to consider the plans.

“The information pack has comprehensive details on Members’ benefits, racing infrastructure, timelines and clear funding certainty.

“The pack sets out the ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ case, which was another key call from Members.’’

Should the proposal proceed, ATC Members would receive a comprehensive loyalty package.

Member Loyalty Program (Commencing 1 August 2026)

• Five years of free annual ATC Membership for all financial Members as at 30 April 2025
• Free Lifetime Membership for those with 20 or more years of cumulative Membership as at 30 April 2025
• $1,000 per annum for five years in food and beverage credits at ATC venues – a $5,000 total benefit per Member

Mr McGauran said: “This proposal is supported by a Member benefit package aimed at revitalising flagging raceday attendances while growing new Membership over time.

“The program recognises and rewards our most loyal and long-term Members by sharing some of the proceeds.’’

Track, Member and Spectator Upgrades

Warwick Farm would be levelled, and a course proper and five training tracks would be reconfigured 90 degrees from the current layout.

This would allow for a 463m long home straight and a 30 m-wide course proper with a total circumference larger than Rosehill Gardens.

It would also provide a second racing surface inside the course proper superior to the Kensington track at Royal Randwick

Key initiatives include:

• $802 million redevelopment of Warwick Farm, including a new grandstand, Group 1 standard track, 600 on-course stables, and enhanced community access
• $557 million upgrade of Royal Randwick, including premium Member areas, a weatherproof spectator entrance and a new Lifestyle Club overlooking the home straight
• $10 million investment in Canterbury Park for essential infrastructure and Member amenity upgrades

New Venues and Long-Term Planning

• Acquisition and development of a new premier training facility in Greater Sydney with future Group 1 racing potential
• Creation of a Racing Advisory Board – an independent panel of ATC Members, industry participants and experts to recommend allocation of sale proceeds
• Establishment of an independently governed Racing Future Fund, managed by investment advisors, to provide stable long-term revenue, insulated from wagering or government volatility

Mr McGauran said the proposal aims to secure the future of racing while providing for the people who have made the Club what it is today.

“This is the most significant infrastructure investment plan in ATC history,” Mr McGauran said.

“Importantly, the proposal would ensure Sydney retains two world-class Group 1 racing venues long after Rosehill Gardens closes in 2031, including a new training base in Western Sydney with further Group 1 racing potential.

“Warwick Farm would be transformed into one of the most advanced racing and training centres in the Southern Hemisphere and importantly would also have a second racing surface for midweek meetings.

“With up to 600 on-course stables, world-class training and veterinary facilities, and premium Member and spectator amenities, it would be a true jewel in Western Sydney’s sporting and lifestyle crown.

“These are funded commitments, backed by independent governance structures, long-term financial oversight, and the support of a majority of the ATC Board.”
