ATC AND SPORTING CHANCE CANCER FOUNDATION TEAM UP AT ROYAL RANDWICK

May 24, 2023

The Australian Turf Club joins with long-standing charity partner Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation at Royal Randwick this Saturday in support of outreach nurses helping young cancer patients.

The ten-race card has attracted a huge 170 entries and includes the SCCF James Tedesco Outreach Program Handicap, linked to the superstar NRL Sydney Roosters and NSW State of Origin captain.

Saturday is the 16th anniversary of the Sporting Chance Cancer Raceday.

More than 400 guests will be in the Royal Randwick Ballroom with the aim of raising funds and awareness. This will add to the more than $15 million already raised for nurses to help children with cancer so they can remain at home for as long as possible whilst still undergoing treatment.

After providing funds to Westmead Children’s Hospital for 15 years, SCCF has branched out to Randwick Sydney Children’s Hospital for the James Tedesco Outreach Program.

Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation was started in 1998 by former Australian Cricket Captain Mark Taylor, rugby league legend the late Reg Gasnier, Olympian Raelene Boyle and triple AFL Brownlow Medalist Bob Skilton.

Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation CEO Jack Hughes said: “For 16 years we’ve been holding this raceday to raise funds to help kids with cancer at Westmead.”

“Most of these days have been held at Royal Randwick, so it’s only fitting that we can now branch out and use these funds to help those kids that are treated through Randwick’s hospital.”

“Our patron James Tedesco was keen to give back to the area and it’s great to have him involved.”

Full fields for Saturday’s Royal Randwick card are available here and full TAB Fixed Odds markets for all races here.

Tickets for this Saturday and all Winter Season racedays are available for as low as $17 for Groups of 10 or more, with the Punters Pack available at $39.

Punters Packs are loaded with value including: a GA entry ticket, 2 Furphys, $10 food voucher and racebook. Collection of vouchers can be made at the Wagering Concierge in the Betting Ring.
