AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB AND DARLEY PARTNER FOR 2023 PRINCESS SERIES
August 17, 2023
The Australian Turf Club continues its partnership with one of the world’s most prestigious stallion organisations Darley ahead of the world-renowned Sydney Everest Carnival.
The 2023 Darley Princess Series for three-year-old fillies starts this Saturday at Royal Randwick with the running of the Group 2 $300,000 Darley Silver Shadow Stakes over 1200m as part of Winx Stakes Day.
It leads to a further three legs across the Sydney spring at Royal Randwick:
• Group 2 $300,000 Darley Furious Stakes over 1200m on Saturday 2 September;
• Group 2 $300,000 Darley Tea Rose Stakes over 1400m on Saturday 16 September;
• Group 1 $750,000 Darley Flight Stakes over 1600m on Saturday 30 September.
The Darley Princess Series provides owners and connections with Group racing status and vital Black Type, and the breeders of these fillies a chance to win four stallion nominations throughout the series to four of Darley’s world-class stallions.
The breeder of the Group 2 Darley Silver Shadow Stakes winning filly will receive a nomination to Darley first-season sire and Group 1-winning WFA sprinter, Paulele, while the Group 2 Darley Furious Stakes winning breeder will receive a nomination to Group 1-winning two and three-year-old Victor Ludorum.
The third leg of the series, the Group 2 Darley Tea Rose Stakes sees the winning breeder walk away with a nomination to four-time Group 1-winning World Champion, Ghaiyyath, whilst the Grand Final of the Darley Princess Series, the Group 1 Darley Flight Stakes offers the winning breeder access to the three-time Group 1-winning World Champion Sprinter, Bivouac.
Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering James Ross said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Darley Princess Series which is firmly established as Australia’s richest and most prestigious series for three-year-old fillies.
“The Darley Princess Series attracts the best fillies in Australia over the four legs culminating with the Group 1 $750,000 Darley Flight Stakes on TAB Epsom Day, a flagship day of the Sydney Everest Carnival.
“The Darley Princess Series rewards owners and breeders with access to some of the world’s best bloodlines, further enhancing the Australian racing and breeding industry.”
Godolphin Australia Managing Director Vin Cox said: “Darley is proud to work with the Australian Turf Club again to recognise and reward these fillies and their connections, particularly the breeder at the start of the breeding season where tomorrow’s champions will be developed.
“Supporting Black Type and rewarding the breeders who achieve significant Group-racing milestones is core to Darley’s objectives and we are proud to offer the ATC and breeders an additional incentive via access to our world-class and commercial stallion roster.
“We are excited to commence the fifth year in a series which allows us to have a conversation with our breeders and clients, recognising, acknowledging and rewarding achievement at the highest level.”
