A message from the Chairman regarding Phil Morley
April 14, 2021
It is with some sadness but with great thanks and praise for his service that I inform Members of the resignation of Director Phil Morley from the Australian Turf Club Board.
Phil and his wife Enid are relocating permanently to Queensland.
With such a great love and pride for our Club, including attending so many racedays throughout the racing year, Phil did not feel able to continue to provide the same level of energy, initiative and guidance whilst living interstate.
Phil joined the Board in May 2016 to fill a casual vacancy and was then re-elected by ATC Members in November 2018.
He has served as a Director tirelessly and with great diligence, including on the Property Sub Committee, as Chairman of the Remuneration and Nominations Sub Committee and as Chairman of the ATC Foundation.
During his time with the ATC Foundation, Phil has overseen the swift distribution of hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities aligned with racing clubs and participants across NSW, as well as in communities around our racecourses.
Phil has been a tremendous asset to the Board and myself as Chairman in helping our Club to further establish itself as a leader in Australian racing and beyond.
But perhaps overall, Members should be most grateful for the enormous passion Phil has for racing, and always serving with Members, owners and our customers best interests foremost in his mind.
He will not only be missed as a Director but by many fellow Members.
I have no doubt Phil will continue to be involved in racing and in the future continue as an administrator in any capacity for the betterment of Australian racing.
We thank and congratulate Phil on his service and especially wish he and Enid the very best on the new chapter up north.
Phil’s last day as an ATC Director will be on 26 April, and we will soon inform Members of further details regarding a new appointment to fill his vacancy.
